I did not take offense at what you wrote about shofar. There are times to be let the spirit move you, and other times where one should let the common good of a congregation come first.

Regarding the smell of the shofar, my new website, http://www.hearingshofar.com will be live within the week. Volume two of my book on shofar has a chapter on “Buying, Making, and Caring for Shofar”. It has extensive discussion about “shofaROT”, the smell of a shofar. There are ways to mitigate the problem. There are also important spiritual messages to learn from the smell.

Chico – he actually wrote a blog post about your blog post. I couldn’t stop laughing. Excluding the distracting sound of the shofar during a quite moment in worship has this guy ever smelled the stench that it leaves. It smells like you have 20 rams other ends (the opposite from their horns) spouting out the noise. That in itself should get shofars banned from public worship. Does the shofar hero game include a smell kit to make it realistic? Maybe one you can hang in your car in the shape of a shofar?
